Entire School Reaches Reading Goal!!!!
For the first time ever, every student at E.M.C. has reached their goal of reading 25 books in one year. The students have gotten close in past, but this year it was different. As a reward for reaching their goal, every student in the school was allowed to choose a free book. Of course they are expected to read it over the summer and have it logged as book #1 for next year. Great Job Kids!!!

Realizing that children learn best when they actively construct their own knowledge, when the learning is purposeful and meaningful to them, and when they interact and talk with one another, the elementary curriculum in the Souderton Area School District is rich with experiences for active engagement. Over the past six years the courses in the elementary schools have all been rewritten to our district standards, providing children with multiple opportunities to develop as learners within a social context.

The core subjects of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies are the heart of the elementary curriculum. Additionally, children have an Art, Music, Physical Education and Library class at least one time per five-day cycle. All elementary schools have Guidance Counselors, Reading Specialists, Instructional Support teachers, Learning Support teachers and Challenge teachers.
